During your summer vacation in the mountains, the Rossalm Lodge is a perfect destination for families with children and for hikers. The hut on Mount Plose is open from May to November. Furthermore, we also open our doors in the winter months for vacationers and day visitors. Beautiful hiking trails start right in front of the Rossalm Lodge. During your
summer holidays in the mountains, there numerous colourful events during your stay. A sports highlight at the end of June is the Bressanone – Dolomites Marathon, which leads directly past the Rossalm. The finish line of the competition is located on 2,486 meter, high on Mount Plose. This event attracts many visitors. Many consider the race “the most beautiful mountain marathon far and wide“.
Family program and nature experiences in the summer on the alp
Mount Plose is a perfect destination for a family holiday in the summer. Directly in front of our sun terrace there is a large adventure playground, which often is extended with new elements and stations. In July and August, there are regular kids’ programs and Family Sundays on the Rossalm. With lots of fun and games, during these events time will fly. An experience for the senses is a guided hike to see the sunrise on Mount Forca followed by mountaineer breakfast on the Rossalm. On the Plose there are several alpine mountain trails. During your summer vacation in the mountains, you have the opportunity of a guided walk through the Dolomites panorama and on the Alta Via di Bressanone. Afterwards you can taste South Tyrolean delicacies and delicious alpine kitchen at the Rossalm.
Hiking on Mount Plose: natural hiking holidays in South Tyrol
The local mountain of Bressanone – the Plose – is known for its scenic walking trails, on which excursions in the high mountains transform into a true pleasure experience. The most popular hiking destinations on Mount Plose include the hiking lodge Rossalm, which you can reach from the mountain station Val Croce on a beautifully situated panoramic trail. After a good hour’s walk on the family trail (suitable also for pushchairs) with the catchy name “Woody Walk” you have reached the lodge Rossalm. While you enjoy a cappuccino on the large sun terrace, your children can romp and play freely on the playground. The children will also love the hike on the panoramic trail “Woody Walk” because numerous stations and Kneipp facilities on the way guarantee plenty of variety and fun. The leisurely hiking trail has only few climbs and offers breathtaking views of the Sas de Putia and the Odle Peaks.
Hikes to the Rossalm:
1) Valley station of the Plose cable car S. ANDREA > with the cable car to Val Croce > Follow the hiking trail 17 for about 40 minutes to “Rossalm”. This short hike is also suitable for children (even with a stroller) or on a mountain bike on the forest trail from Val Croce to Rossalm.
2) From the ski hut Schlemmer (Plancios-EORES). On the hiking trail 6 (moderate) after about 45 minutes you’ll reach the Rossalm.
3) From the hut Halslhütte from (from Funes or Eores, on the road to Passo delle Erbe), hiking trail 4 (gentle gradient), after about 1h 30 min. you’ll reach the Rossalm.

Full speed ahead with the mountain carts
If you want to offer something special to your children and turn your day on Mount Plose or your holiday in South Tyrol into a top-notch experience, then come to the Plose and experience a thrilling ride with the mountain carts.
With these modern speedsters pure fun on three wheels is guaranteed. Particularly action-packed and exciting is the 10 km run from the mountain station of the Plose cable car to the valley station. Each passenger can individually adjust the speed. These extremely stable and safe vehicles on three wheels have no pedals, but well-oiled brakes.
